Across the country, state executives, legislators, and bureaucrats hand out billions in corporate welfare each year. More recently, controversy from mega-deals such as Foxconn and Amazon’s “HQ2” have drawn increased concern about abuse of taxpayer resources. Yet even with increased public scrutiny and a growing body of research that disputes the value of targeted incentives, the road to reform can be long and difficult.

Given these consistent challenges—including state policymakers’ desire to be viewed as job creators—how can organizations best maximize their impact and build effective coalitions? This panel discussion will explore innovative policy and litigation strategies to successfully combat corporate welfare over the long term.
